What is Home Church?

The home church model is an approach to church life inspired by the early church that we read about in Acts. The emphasis is gathering together in smaller, more intimate groups, typically in homes, & from time to time in a larger context, bringing the home churches together for times of corporate worship, teaching and fellowship. This emphasises close community, personal relationships, and shared spiritual growth. It encourages a more organic and interactive way of discipleship, worship, Bible study, prayer, and fellowship and makes it accessible to everyone regardless of where they are on their faith journey. 

As the name suggests, Thame Home Church meets in homes on Sundays and during the week to foster deeper connections, allowing us to support one another in faith and build a strong, vibrant community. Our meetings often involve food and the home setting makes each gathering relaxed and welcoming. Our meetings are inclusive and relational exploring the Bible through Discovery Bible Studies which are discussion based, engaging everyone from the youngest to the oldest, those with faith and those exploring faith.

There's no one too young, no one too old to join with us, Home Church reflects a family gathering where everyone is nurtured, encouraged, supported and where we learn how to love God and understand his plan and purposes for us. Everyone can feel involved and valued & this leads to a depth of discipleship and healthy relationships. 

Our ambition is to follow Jesus' teaching in Matthew 28 to make disciples that obey everything he commanded - disciples that make disciples through the simplicity and honesty of home church.
